Today my heart breaks for the world. At a time when we are feeling more disconnected than ever, I find it difficult that we are being held apart. I am a hugger, a hand-shaker and I’ve always been fond of how the French greet each other with a kiss on each cheek. And now, two meters is our new normal. It makes me sad.
I realize that the problem is so much bigger than that. Suddenly the world seemed to get a whole lot smaller and what we imagined was a far-off problem is now everyone’s reality. And now my heart goes out to my neighbours both near and far.
We are ALL in this together.
This is one more difficult step in our evolution and as an eternal optimist, I believe that we will emerge a stronger, more connected species. But in the meantime, how do we get through these dark, disconnected days?
The world is full of “should dos” and “what not to dos,” but the answers lay deep within ourselves. I believe that the best thing that we can do is breathe deeply and tap into our inner knowing and ask:
Who do I want to BE?
I’ve meditated and gone for long hikes to ponder that question and decided to come up with a mantra. It serves as a tool to centre myself amid the noise and the confusion around me.
I will be courageous, not fearful
I will be loving, not judgmental
I will be curious about how this will bring us together, not tear us apart
I will be grateful, while remembering that others are impacted more significantly than me
I will be creative and find innovative ways to connect with those I love
I have been given the gift of time. I will use it wisely.
I hope that this will serve as a thought starter for you. If you would like to create your own personal mantra, I am only a phone call away (416) 993-9249. Let’s stay connected.
I wish you peace and love, my friends. We will get through this.
